AP hacking

         On tuesday, the twitter account of the United States largest new provider, The Associated Press was hacked by a group loyal to the Syrian president. President Bashar Assad later tweeted, "Ops! @AP get owned by Syrian Electronic Army! #SEA #Syria #ByeByeObama"The hackers tweet from the AP account told of an explosion  at the white house that had injured President Obama. Though the tweet was false, it raised awareness about the vonurability of social networking. 

         Though this wasn't the first of these social networking attacks, it has brought the most attention to it. Any time the Dow Jones drops 128 points in a minute its going to be a big deal. Any time the president is in supposed danger from the verified AP account, people are going to believe it. This just goes to show that social media attacks can be a huge weapon used against anyone in ways people would never expect. Overall, we need to protect our social networking sites and be careful of what we read and believe.  

       

Country Nelly

In the last few years, country and rap music genres, which are thought of as polar opposites have started to come together. The recent hit my country group Florida Georgia Line, "Cruise" has now been remixed my rap star Nelly. The song which was originally a chart topper, is now on it's was again with a little bit of a new touch thanks to nelly. Back in '04, Nelly collaborated with another major country star, Tim McGraw in "over and over". The song was another major hit on both the country and rap charts. Both songs were very beneficial to all involved. It gave the rap genre lots of recognition to a blind country genre and let die hard rap fans see a little bit of country.
Though everyone may not be a fan of this new country rap genre, it plays a big role in fan bases. We now have people who have been die hard country fans their whole lives, listening to rap. Though this may seen strange it lets them be a part of something they're not usually a part of. It them a chance to hear something different but not be too far out of their comfort zone. Overall this helps diversify music as a whole. When people of different back grounds listen to the same type of music it lets them see their similarities like never before. I for one am not a big fan of the music itself, but anytime you're adding fans to both music industries and bringing people together for music, I'm all for it.
